What is the All Age Learning Disability Partnership Board?
Healthwatch Kingston organises the All Age Learning Disability Partnership Board meetings.
Professionals, service providers, people with learning disabilities, their carers and advocates all work together to improve services for people with learning disabilities.
These meetings give lots of time for people with learning disabilities to talk about what is important to them.
The Involve team from Kingston Council help Healthwatch Kingston with the meetings.
What does the All Age Learning Disability Partnership Board do?
The partnership board has 8 main aims to ensure people with learning Disabilities in Kingston are well supported. The 8 aims are:
- We want good information and support to make choices and get the right services.
- We want information to be available to everyone. This includes people who don’t go online or use technology.
- We want information to be available in a format that supports everyone.
- We want it to be easier for organisations to signpost and promote each other's services and events.
- We want people with learning disabilities to be supported.
- We want people with learning disabilities to have good access to health and social care.
- We want mental health services that work for people with learning disabilities.
- We want to amplify the voices of people with learning disabilities in our work.
Why do we have an All Age Learning Disability Partnership Board?
- To make sure that the All Age Learning Disability Strategy happens.
- Because it was promised in the All Age Learning Disability Strategy 2018-2022.
- To include the voice of our Learning Disability community.
What is the All Age Learning Disability Strategy?
The All Age Learning Disability Strategy 2018-2022 was written together with people who have learning disabilities, their families, health and social care staff, and community organisations. This is called co-production.
The strategy shared a clear vision and sets out goals and actions to:
-
Give people more choice and control over their lives
-
Improve health, independence, and well-being
-
Reduce stigma and discrimination
The strategy was for 2018 – 2022 and needs to be updated.
The All Age Learning Disability Partnership Board, chaired and co-ordinated by Healthwatch Kingston is now working with Kingston Council to refresh the All Age Learning Disability Strategy.
