Volunteer Roles

These are the different types of volunteer roles you could do at Healthwatch Kingston.

Task Group Volunteer

Take part in collaborative meetings, independently review research, reports and suggests recommendations, sets new projects in motion.

Task group areas:

  • Hospital Services
  • Community Care
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Mental Health
  • Youth Out Loud!

Time required: 2 hours per meeting, up to 1 hour to read material plus optional 1-2 hours per month project work

Projects Volunteer

Builds reports which have credible recommendations in the borough.

Role dependent on project, may involve:

  • Preparing for and conduct surveys, consultations and visits
  • Compile results
  • Building reports and publications
  • Telephone operation

Time required: Dependent on project

Events Volunteer

Stalls and community engagement

  • Listen to and collect what people say about their experiences
  • Raise awareness
  • Different venues around the borough

Time required: 2-5 hours per event

Support and Administration

  • Taking notes
  • Communication and e-mails
  • Data entry and analysis
  • Managing incoming queries

Time required: Dependent on availability.

Enter and View Volunteer

Independently collect views from service users 

  • Preparation for visit
  • Publicly operating services
  • Credible recommendations
  • Follow-up

Training required

Time Required: Dependent on availability.

Trustee Volunteer

Participating on the Board of Healthwatch Kingston.

  • Shape organisation direction collaboratively
  • Ensuring HWK delivers activities safely, responsibly and inclusively
  • Attending meetings on areas of interest for the charity

Time commitment: 6 board meetings of 3 hours, plus preparation prior. In addition: lead on project work and keeping up with staff team communications.
