Staying safe in Kingston

Through Kingston Safeguarding Voices (KSV), we work with residents, advocates, and professionals to make safeguarding more transparent, accessible, and person-centred.

We recently heard from members that they would like more information about what to do if they are in town and they don't feel safe.

The Royal Borough of Kingston Community Safety Team told us about the local initiatives you can turn to.

Kingston Upon Thames Street Pastors

The Kingston Street Pastors are a group of trained and uniformed volunteers who run the Kingston Safe Zone outside the train station on Friday and Saturday evenings from 10 pm to 4 am.

Street Pastor initiatives are established in towns and cities and bring the local church together in partnership with the Police and local authorities.

Ask for Angela

Pubs and night time venues in Kingston are part of the Ask for Angela scheme. If you are feeling unsafe in one of these venues, you can speak to a member of staff, ask for Angela and be provided with assistance.

Welcoming spaces

Kingston United Reform Church and All Saints Kingston are open as welcoming spaces during weekdays with staff and volunteers on hand.

Kingston United Reform Church and All Saints Kingston are inclusive and have accessible facilities.

Kingston One Stop Shop

Running every Monday from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, the domestic abuse one stop shop is running as a drop-in at Kingsgate Church, Clarence street with staff on hand to offer support.

In an emergency

If someone is in immediate danger, you are a witness to a crime taking place or you believe someone is at risk of immediate harm, call 999 or go into a nearby shop and ask a staff member to call the police for an immediate response.

Strength in Community: Challenging Hate Together

The Kingston Community Safety Team are hosting a workshop on 5th of November 2025, 2 - 4.30pm in the Council Chamber, The Guildhall. This interactive event will explore the barriers to reporting hate crime and seeking support. Share your insights and help co-design practical, community-led solutions.

All About: Safeguarding

Protect and strengthen independent services that give the public a voice

We think trusted independent services that listen to local communities are essential to improving health and social care. We listen without fear or favour and reach those whose voices are often ignored.

Help us to protect and strengthen independence by signing and sharing the petition asking the government to review its decision to abolish local Healthwatch.
